New PRS Hollowbody 12
By the time you read this, we should have very limited stocks of the amazing new PRS Hollowbody 12. The electric 12-string model recently found favour with Alex Lifeson (Rush), who recently used a PRS solidbody 12-string in the studio for Rush’s 20th studio album and requested a replica of the instrument, subsequently receiving a prototype of the new Hollowbody version.

The PRS Hollowbody 12 is based around a body with mahogany back and sides with maple top. The 22 fret, 25” scale length neck has a Wide Fat carve, rosewood fingerboard and PRS’s classic ‘old school’ bird inlays. A pair of Archtop humbuckers harnessed to volume and tone controls and a three-way selector round out the top-notch specification of the gorgeous new addition to the PRS range.

The PRS Hollowbody 12 retails from £3995

Tony McManus To Demo PRS Acoustics At LiMS
We're very excited that the upcoming London International Music Show at Excel in June will see the UK debut of PRS acoustic guitars.

Launched at Winter NAMM 2009, PRS’s Tonare Grand and Angelus acoustic models were amongst the highlights of the show, and have been warmly received by critics and players.

Demonstrating the new PRS acoustics at LiMS will be special guest guitarist Tony McManus, hailed (by none other than John Renbourn) as “the greatest Celtic guitarist in the world”. McManus’s spell-binding technique and incredible musicality have won him admiration from fans the world over, and LiMS represents a unique opportunity to witness his talent up close. Tony will be appearing on the Headline Music stand (H18) on both Saturday 13 June and Sunday 14 June.

New 'Limited Run' Guitar Models Added To PRS Line-up
Tonehounds might already be aware that PRS Guitars recently acquired exclusive rights to the original pickup wire used in the most revered pickups of the 1950s. The wire is currently being used in PRS’s 1957/2008 humbuckers (1957 being the first year of commercial availability of the pickup type) – and the US brand has unveiled a limited run of solidbody electrics featuring the new pickups.

The 1957/2008 Limited Run comprises a total of 750 instruments, split between three models – the Custom 24, McCarty and SC245 – with just a handful making their way to the UK (specifically 60 Custom 24, 20 McCarty and 20 SC245). The Limited Run is also the only place outside of PRS premium-priced Private Stock series that brand new ‘old style’ McCarty models can be purchased.

The individually numbered guitars are priced at £4295 RRP and represent the latest in a line of truly collectable future classics from Paul Reed Smith.

1957/2008 Humbuckers Appear on New PRS Models
Two stunning new high-end guitar models – the Modern Eagle II and Al Di Meola Prism – are now available from Paul Reed Smith. Both feature the brand’s highly desirable new 1957/2008 humbucking pickups.

The Modern Eagle II builds on the illustrious reputation of its predecessor and features a premium grade curly maple top with mahogany back, 25” scale black rosewood neck (wide fat carve) and 22-fret fingerboard with beautiful green abalone and iridescent paua heart bird inlays.

With a high gloss nitro finish (in a choice of Faded Blue Jean, Charcoal, Yellow Tiger or Red Tiger colours), the Modern Eagle II is available with either a PRS tremolo or stop tailpiece and is fitted with hybrid gold/nickel hardware.

Al Di Meola's new signature Prism guitar makes an immediate impression thanks to its unique ‘tie dye’ curly maple custom ‘9’ top. The stunning top is mated to a mahogany body and the guitar is completed by a 25” scale, 22 fret Mexican rosewood fingerboard, abalone bird inlays and tremolo bridge.

The Prism is the culmination of a more than 20 year relationship between Paul Reed Smith and Di Meola, who was one of the first artists to appear on a magazine cover with a PRS guitar.

Both instruments wear the classic/modern-sounding 1957/2008 humbuckers (the pickups are the result of PRS Guitars gaining the rights to the original pickup wire used in the most revered pickups of the 1950s) and harness these with simple volume, tone and three-way selector switch electronics.

Recommended retail prices for the new models are as follows:
PRS Modern Eagle II: £5,595
PRS Al Di Meola Prism: £3,995

PRS GUITARS UNVEILS MIKE MUSHOK SIGNATURE SE MODEL
As guitarist with the multi platinum-selling Staind, Mike Mushok needs a guitar that rocks hard – and deep. Mike's collaboration with PRS Guitars to deliver just such an instrument has resulted in the newly-arrived SE Mike Mushok Model, the first production- model baritone guitar from the PRS stable. Resplendent in Silverburst finish, the guitar features a 27.7” scale length and solid mahogany body and neck; the body finish is offset with white binding while the fingerboard is blank ebony for a super-clean look. This stripped-down aesthetic extends to electrics and hardware, with a string-through-body stoptail bridge, twin humbuckers, simple three-way toggle selector and volume and tone controls ensuring that nothing gets in the way of the playing experience.
The PRS SE Mike Mushok Model is available now priced at £699 RRP.
